This took a while to take. :lol: I'm quite pleased with the result, though. Taken on January 31st, 2008.

#128 - TOMATO

I love tomatoes, but when I eat them (which is quite often) they mostly come in salads. So here's a picture of my most recent salad of rucola, tomatoes, cucumber, champignons and feta cheese. Yummy! Picture taken on January 30th, 2008.

#109 - NATIONALITY

I thought about using this picture for the passport theme as well, but then I took a look at the theme list and found another one to match it with. :lol: My nationality is a little out of focus in this picture since I focused on the "Reisepass" (passport) bit, but that's not tragic. Nationality shouldn't matter anyway, right? Picture taken on January 31st, 2008.

#283 - PASSPORT

This is the most exciting page in my passport: Japan (March 2006) on the left and Turkey (July/August 2004) on the right. I also have stamps from my most recent trip to the United States, but the immigration agent wasn't very clever when he stamped my passport because he used one of the last pages and not the one right after this page. Oh well... Picture taken on January 31st, 2008.

#001 - SPARKLE

This picture was taken from my balcony on January 12, 2008. I didn't intend for it to look that way, but since it was very stormy that day I couldn't get a single fireworks shot that wasn't in some way blurry. This one looks quite lovely despite the blur and it definitely sparkles.

#316 - APPLE

Since May last year, I'm an Apple convert. So I was quite happy when I walked past the Apple store on 5th Ave on January 1st, 2008.

#301 - CHURCH

I could have taken hundreds of more church pictures this year, since I am a regular in churches. But since this is one of my first church pictures for the year and I'm still going with the NYC theme, I thought I'd post this one. This picture was taken on January 6, 2008, in St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Ave (between 50th and 51st St), where Kerri, Drew and I had gone to attend the Epiphany mass.

#009 - NEWSPAPER

We walked by the New York Times building one day as well, but Allison already captured that one. :lol: And since I don't want to be a copy cat I was happy when we walked by another newspaper building two days after. Taken on January 7, 2008.

#242 - MUSEUM

This is a gallery at the MoMA where they have cool and stylish, yet sometimes not very practical, everyday inventions. I especially liked this row of wallpapers. Taken on January 2nd, 2008.

#087 - PRECIOUS

I've started to put all my memorabilia and other little stuff from my NYC trip on my living room door. This trip was special to me, so everything that helps me remember it is precious. :lovely: Picture taken today, January 9 2008.

#168 - ARCHWAY

This is a little archway in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (NYC). It's under a little bridge, but not really underground. I tried to find a different angle for this one. Taken on January 5, 2008.

#172 - BLACK AND WHITE

I thought about using this picture for the park theme, but opted for the other one. It still is a nice picture and it fits another theme. So why not use it for this one? :) This is the view from the Southwest of Central Park into Eastern Manhattan (midtown). This picture was taken around noon on January 2nd, 2008, so the sun was up high in the sky and of course coming in from the South (downtown Manhattan). So I tried a few settings to get at least a few usable pictures. This black and white version doesn't look bad, so I thought I'd use it for this theme.

This is a lovely old mansion in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (NYC). Photographed on January 5, 2008.

#028 - MIRROR

It's not really a mirror, but as close as it gets. This is at Ground Zero and in the windows of the Millenium Hilton you can see the reflection of two buildings of the WTC. Taken on January 6, 2008.

#327 - FLIGHT

On my way back home from NYC, January 8, 2008. This pictures was taken on the second plane from Munich to Dresden and shows some snowy parts of Germany.

#192 - SUNSET

Speaking of the Empire State Building... This is the view from the platform of the Empire State Building to lower Manhattan at sunset. Taken on January 3rd, 2008.

#038 - SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS

This is the view from the Top of the Rock platform (Rockefeller Center) in NYC to the Empire State Building and lower Manhattan. Standing on one tall building looking to another tall building--such great heights in a double sense of the word. Picture taken on January 4, 2008.

#227 - BLUR

This is the New York Subway coming in (or going out, don't remember). It made a nice "whoosh" and blur, so I thought it'd fit perfectly. Picture taken on January 6, 2008.

#336 - FAN

I saw Jennifer Garner in "Cyrano" on Broadway on Wednesday, January 2nd 2008. Since her Alias days I am a huge fan of her, so what better way to start my 366 than with a picture of her.

366 - The Photo Challenge

Helen found out about a photo challenge for the year 2008. It is called 366 Pictures and here's the link to it. Helen modified the rules and themes a bit and I decided to go along with them.

Here are the rules:

1. Photos must be taken between 12:01am January 1st 2008 and 11:59pm December 31st 2008.
2. Photos must be your own, not taken from other people.
3. Photos to be posted in your Blog/Blurty/Photobucket (linked to), etc.
4. All images remain yours.
5. You don't have to take the photo themes in order, nor to take exactly one photo each day - many people work long hours or hours which mean few free daylight hours - you may find you cross off three themes in one day. Think of it as a photographic treasure hunt or quest.
6. All images must be original, not photoshopped - the point is to have fun and challenge yourself to improve photography, not how well you can correct your mistakes with manipulation (this one is reliant on people's honesty, but hey, I never PS).
